Is It Okay to Wear Wedding Ring Before the Wedding?

The wedding rings are an integral part of the wedding ceremony so you might be wondering if it’s okay to wear your wedding ring before the actual wedding. It’s understandable that you might be worried about wearing your wedding rings before the big day.

So, is it okay to wear your wedding ring before the wedding? If you feel like it might diminish the symbolism and feeling of exchanging rings on your wedding day, then I would recommend not wearing them ahead of time. However, there are other reasons why you may want to wear your rings ahead of time such as to keep it clean or to make sure it’s comfortable.

If you’re looking for some help in deciding whether you should go ahead and wear your wedding ring before the wedding or not.

Keeping the Symbolism

Some people feel that wearing their rings before the ceremony will diminish the meaning and significance of exchanging rings during the ceremony. If you feel this way, you should most certainly wait to wear your rings. However, this is completely up to personal preference. You don’t have to wear your rings ahead of time if you don’t want to.

You could simply wear only the engagement ring and put the bands away for the wedding day to keep it special and significant.

Keeping Your Rings Clean

It’s customary to have your rings cleaned a few weeks before the wedding. Some people enjoy wearing their wedding bands before the wedding. However, once you send the bands off to be cleaned, you could decide to put them away until the wedding day so that they remain clean until the big day!

If you wish to wear a ring instead of trying to keep it clean, you could get a silicone ring to wear while you store the official rings away for the big day.

Checking For Wear and Comfort

You might want to make sure that your rings will be comfortable to wear and that they won’t tarnish quickly. Some couples leave for their honeymoon directly after the reception and the last thing you want to worry about is it being uncomfortable.

You may have had your engagement ring and band(s) soldered together so it’s not possible to wear the engagement ring without the bands, therefore you might want to wear them ahead of time to make sure everything feels right and stays soldered together correctly.
